Thailand’s Ministry of Labour has announced the launch of a new mandatory online platform, the e-Work Permit System, for all work permit applications and foreign worker registrations. The system will become effective on October 13, 2025, marking a major step toward full digitalization of Thailand’s work permit process.
Mandatory Online Filing
Starting October 13, 2025, all new work permit applications and foreign worker registrations must be submitted through the e-Work Permit portal at https://eworkpermit.doe.go.th/Login/Register.
Paper submissions will only be accepted for renewal and cancellation applications, and only during the initial transition period.
Registration Requirements
Company Directors and Expatriate Employees must register on the e-Work Permit portal.
Thai Directors can verify their identity with the information contained in their Thai ID card.
Foreign Directors may authorize registration on their behalf by submitting copies of their passport (including visa page) and current work permit.
Additional Implementation Details
IRIS scanning will be required for all expatriate employees.
BOI-promoted companies will also transition to the e-Work Permit platform; however, individual director’s authorization will not be required. The new Work Permit will be issued in from of a pink plastic card.
Practical Considerations
While the e-Work Permit System is designed to streamline processes, reduce paperwork, and allow real-time tracking, initial processing delays are expected during the rollout. Employers that are not BOI promoted are advised to complete registration promptly. We note that during the implementation phase the new E-Work Permit system is undergoing constant changs and filing requirements may be amended.
