Promboon Sookatup, Partner at Blumenthal Richter Sumet & Schuler (BRS&S), was invited by the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) and the Thailand Overseas Investment Center to speak at its executive program หลักสูตร “พัฒนาศักยภาพผู้ประกอบการไทยเพื่อการขยายการลงทุนสู่ตลาดต่างประเทศ” (TOISC รุ่นที่ 22), or “Developing Thai Entrepreneurs’ Capabilities for Overseas Investment Expansion”.
The program is run by the BOI’s Thai Overseas Investment Support Center (TOISC) in collaboration with CIP Value. It prepares Thai business owners and executives to expand and invest in international markets. The 22nd intake runs from 11 September to 6 November 2026 and comprises more than 45 hours of intensive sessions covering market insight, free trade agreements (FTAs), tax, legal, finance, logistics and ESGI. The program draws on leading speakers from across Thailand’s business, legal and investment community, each invited by the BOI to share practical, hands-on expertise with participants preparing to invest abroad.
In her session on Key International Legal Issues in Investment on 3 October 2026, Promboon shared insights and legal perspectives drawn from her experience advising clients on cross-border investments. She discussed key legal issues to consider before making an investment, strategies for negotiating and structuring agreements to prevent disputes with local partners, and practical approaches to anticipating and mitigating potential legal obstacles that may arise when investing in foreign jurisdictions.
“It was a privilege to be invited by the BOI to share practical insights with Thai business leaders preparing to expand abroad,” said Promboon. “Getting the structure right from the outset, from both a legal and a tax perspective, makes a real difference to the long-term success of an overseas investment. I enjoyed the lively discussion with participants and wish them every success in their international expansion.”
At BRS&S, Promboon advises clients on cross-border investment strategies, covering both inbound investment into Thailand and outbound investment into foreign markets, through M&A and other investment structures. Drawing on her experience in tax, corporate and M&A matters, she helps clients navigate legal and regulatory considerations, assess investment structures, and address potential challenges in executing and managing cross-border investments.
